NEW COLLEAGUES

Emanuele Bacchiocchi, Associate Professor, Academic discipline: SECS-P/05 ECONOMETRICS   

Emanuele graduated in Statistical Sciences at the University of Bologna, where he subsequently obtained the PhD in Methodological Statistics for the Scientific Research. Before moving to the University of Bologna, he has been Assistant Professor and Associate Professor of Econometrics at the University of Milan. He has published in international journals such as the Journal of Applied Econometrics, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Scandinavian Journal of Economics, Oxford Review of Economic Policy, Fiscal Studies. His main research interests are: time series econometrics, identification of econometric models, structural breaks, and applied macro econometrics.

Umberto Cherubini, Full Professor, Academic discipline: SECS-S/06 MATHEMATICAL METHODS OF ECONOMICS, FINANCE AND ACTUARIAL SCIENCES

Umberto studied at the University of Florence (Bachelor’s, 1984, dissertation supervisor Mario Draghi) and NYU (MA, 1988) and undertook his research career in the industry, at the Economic Research Department of BCI-COMIT Milan (1989-1997). He joined the academia in 1998, and taught financial mathematics and risk management in graduate courses in several universities (Catholique University in Milan, Bocconi, Hitotsubashi University, Birbeck College, Johns Hopkins University and others), in training courses for regulators and associations (Bank of Italy, CONSOB, Italian Banking Association, TLX Stock Exchange) and for international financial training companies (RISK Training, WBA Training).  His main research achievements are in Choquet pricing theory (in the industry, last century) and copula functions theory for financial applications (in the academia, this century). His current research interests are in generalized algebras and q-calculus methods for applications to financial mathematics, macro-finance and econometrics. He is currently member Research Collaborator of the Financial Risk and Engineering Department of New York University.

Carmine Guerriero, Senior Associate Professor, Academic discipline: SECS-P01 ECONOMICS 

Carmine is Rita Levi-Montalcini Associate Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics of the University of Bologna. His chair has been established thanks to a three million Euros 2016 Rita Levi-Montalcini grant from the Italian ministry of University and Research. He obtained his PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge in 2010. From 2009 to 2016, he has been Assistant Professor and Program Director at the ACLE (University of Amsterdam) and, from 2012 to 2020, he has served as associate editor of the International Review of Law and Economics. From 2014, he is Co-Primary Investigator of the Nomography Project and in 2020 he has founded the Cambridge University Press Elements in Law, Economics and Politics for which he now serves as Editor-in-Chief. Guerriero has received the EARIE Paul Geroski award prize in 2007 and the Hans-Jurgen-Ewers Prize in 2011. His main contributions are towards the understanding of the determinants and impact of legal and political institutions. He has published in top economics, law, and political science journals such as the Journal of Law and Economics, the Journal of Comparative Economics, the Journal of Institutional Economics, Economica, the Oxford Journal of Legal Studies and the Southern California Law Review.

  

PRIZES AND AWARDS

  • Antonio Marsi, DSE PhD in 2020 (32nd cycle), has been selected by the European Central Bank for the young economists’ 2020 competition with the paper “Unconventional monetary policy in the Euro area: a tale of three shocks”. Link to the ten selected finalists

PARTICIPATION TO EXTERNAL EVENTS

  • 4 November - Paolo Vanin has been invited to hold the Hamburg Lecture on Law & Economics by presenting a study joint with Matteo Cervellati, Sara Lazzaroni and Giovanni Prarolo on "Political Geography and Pre-Industrial Development: A Theory and Evidence for Europe, 1000-1850". 
  •  12 November - Francesca Leucci, PhD student in Law and Economics, participated at PhD workshop "Sustainable Development Research: an Interdisciplinary Chance or Challenge?", organized by the Freie Universität Berlin, as one of the 5 PhD students selected by the University of Bologna for UNA Europa (University Alliance Europe). 
  • 1 December - Alessandro Tavoni joined the Scientific Board of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
  • 18 December - Elena Argentesi participated as invited panelist to the workshop "The Digital Market Act Proposal in the European Union" organized by the Universitad Complutense of Madrid.
